Growing up in Cleveland's inner city, I learned early on the importance of maximizing limited resources. My upbringing was humble, and like many others, I started with few advantages. I quickly realized that the ability to spot opportunities—and act on them—would shape my future. I've carried that mindset through every chapter of my professional life, viewing the potential of artificial intelligence for business owners through this lens.
My journey from Cleveland's public schools to studying computer science at Harvard was less about seeking prestige and more about turning each experience into a stepping stone. I discovered that unexpected doors can open with the right mindset and a willingness to learn. This same approach led me to Microsoft, where I had the privilege of helping people worldwide learn how to code. My mission there was straightforward: to empower anyone, anywhere, to unlock new opportunities through technical skills.
That experience reinforced my belief that technology is most effective when accessible and practical rather than merely impressive on paper. I've carried this belief into my work as a founder and entrepreneur, most recently by building BlendEd, a platform designed to help educators deliver high-quality courses efficiently and affordably. Whether in education or business, I am driven by a single question: How can we use technology to make a real difference for real people?
